All paintings use a combination of traditional and digital techniques. The work begins with detailed drawings, in black or coloured graphite. Oil-painting washes are added before the image is scanned and completed with digital painting. All the prints on offer are somewhat smaller than the original works.

Prices are for museum quality giclée prints on canvas with stretcher frames included. Prints on paper, and some smaller sizes are available upon request.

Painting description:
This owl is second only to the Snowy Owl in terms of weight (2-3 lbs for males, 3-4 lbs for females), and is certainly large: 17-25” with a wingspan of 3 ½ to 5’. Due to its size, huge feet and talons and colouration early naturalists called it the ‘tiger of the air’ or ‘winged tiger’. The nickname is apt given that they will prey on animals heavier than itself. The painting depicts a pair of Great Horned Owls that nested in woods north of Oshawa along the Oshawa Creek.
